Bake like a Pro with the Professional Care 4 Piece Silicone Tools Set

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Getting baked goods out of metal pans can be a pain.  You don’t want to risk scratching the dish with a sharp knife, but sometimes, that seems to be the only thing to do.  However, with this silicone knife and these three silicone spatulas, you won’t have to worry about that.  These silicone items won’t scratch up anything, and you can use them on metal baking pans, with baking sheets, and even with woks and other cooking devices.  professional-care-4-piece-silicone-tools-set

Silicone spatulas can completely replace your plastic or metal spatulas.  They’re highly heat resistant, meaning you can use them to cook just about anything.  The silicone knife, likewise, is heat resistant, and while it’s not sharp on the end, it is capable of cutting through quiche, lasagne, apple pie, cakes, and more.   The knife and spatulas are also perfect for icing cakes, too.

Once you’ve finished up using your silicone tools, you can just throw them in the dishwasher—like all silicone items, they are 100% dishwasher safe.  They won’t rust like metal spatulas will, and they last for quite some time, so you won’t be replacing them every few years like you do with plastic spatulas.  With three silicone spatulas and one great silicone knife, you’ll be set for baking, cooking, and dessert decorating for quite some time.

Monterey Chicken

Friday, March 27th, 2009

This is a chicken recipe that is a favorite around my home. It really gives the chicken a little extra kick.chickenbreast You can add as little or as many ingredients as you want. It really just depends on what kind of flavor you are looking for. The spices you use will really change the chicken from being just average to exceptional. I will give you the basic recipe so that you can add your own touch to make it just right for your family.

You will need chicken breast that has been rolled to about ½ inch thickness. This will allow it to cook evenly. If you like things a little spicy, you will probably want to use some cayenne pepper instead of regular black pepper. I also like to use pepper jack cheese, but any kind of cheese will do for this particular dish.

Ingredients:
6 chicken breasts
6 cheese slices (whatever is your favorite)
6 pieces of bacon
Cayenne pepper (season to taste)
Green onions
Tomato
Mushrooms

Begin by rolling the chicken to the correct thickness. Season the chicken the way you normally would just add the extra pepper at the end. Place in a hot skillet and let brown on both sides. Once the chicken is brown, bake it at 400 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes. During the last five minutes of bake time, add the cheese slices to the chicken. While the chicken is baking, cook the bacon until it is crisp. You are going to break it into pieces so that you can sprinkle it on your chicken. This is also a good time to cut up your other ingredients that go on top. Once the cheese had melted, take the chicken out of the oven and sprinkle with the bacon. This will help keep the bacon pieces on top of the chicken. Simply, add the rest and enjoy.

Cooking Outdoors

Friday, March 27th, 2009

It is coming up on the time of year when everyone starts cooking outdoors. There is just something different about food that has been cooked on a grill or open fire. This is usually a really healthy option. Cooking outdoors can create a number of problems if you do not take the right precautions.

You will want to make sure that the area that you are going to be cooking in is well ventilated. It is common for people to become sick after cooking in an enclosed area. If you are going to be using a grill, do not place it in a closed garage. This can cause you to inhale toxic fumes that cause serious breathing problems. Grills should only be used if you have plenty of fresh air available while you are cooking. Gas grills are better for you than charcoal grills as well. Charcoal can release carbon monoxide in higher quantities.

If you are going to be cooking over an open fire, you will want to make sure that you have access to a fire extinguisher. Open fires can easily get out of hand without warning. It is also recommended that you are going to have a fire pit that you surround it with rocks. This will keep the fire from spreading out of the designated area.

Cooking outdoors is a great way to enjoy this time of year. You will want to make sure that you follow all of the necessary precaution. This will help reduce any chances of having any accidents while enjoying the great outdoors.

Slow Cookers

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

It is at the end of a very long day, and you have no idea what is for dinner. Does this happen very often to you? I know that there are so many days that you just want to come home and do nothing.roast You want to rest once you get off work or home from taking the kids to all kinds of after school activities. Resting is probably not an option if you still have dinner to make. A solution for this reoccurring problem is a slow cooker.

A slow cooker will allow you start dinner early in the morning before you even leave for work. This is great because by the time you get home, you already have dinner cooked and waiting for you. There are many great recipes that can be made in a slow cooker. You are not limited to casseroles or soups like many people believe.

Slow cookers have been improved over the years. You can cook entire meals in the time that you are gone to work. One of my favorites to cook in the slow cooker is a roast. You simply place the roast, potatoes, carrots and a couple of packets of seasoning in the cooker and you are done for the day. Start the cooker and dinner will be ready by the time you step your tired foot through the door.

There are many great recipes that you can find that allow you the same flexibility. I love being able to have every part of my dinner ready by the time I get home. It really does save time and money because it keeps you from ordering out every night of the week. It is a great and healthy option in this fast paced world we live in.

Looking to Bake a Cake?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Baking a cake can be a lot of fun, but it’s certainly not entertaining when you turn the cake pan over and, instead of your cake falling out, nothing happens.  You can shake it, tap the bottom, and even run a knife around the edge, but sometimes, none of that works.  It can be very frustrating to see your perfectly baked cake stuck to the bottom of your pan!

Fortunately, if you purchase a non-stick 8 inch professional heavy duty silicone cake mould, you won’t have to worry about that ever happening again!  This pan is made from a superior grade silicone that is incredibly durable, so it can withhold any type of cake.  However, because it’s flexible like all of our other silicone products, you can easily pop the cake right out without even using a knife.professional-heavy-duty-silicone-cake-mould-dish

Our silicone cake mould requires no butter or other non-stick spray to work, either, meaning all the food you cook in it comes out healthier.  It can go from oven to microwave to dinner table to freezer, so you can use it for serving and to store your leftovers as well.  Once you’re finished with it, the round pan can go right in the dishwasher for easy clean up.

Think one of these pans sounds like a great deal?  Well, guess what?  You get two of them in a package!  You can fix two great cakes or use the pans for cooking dinner.  No matter what you use them for, you won’t ever have to purchase those old, flimsy metal pans again.

Don’t Forget the Accessories!

Monday, March 16th, 2009

When it comes to baking, you need more than just a few silicone pans—you need accessories!  That’s where the 5 piece silicone accessories set comes into play.  This set contains everything you need to bake like a professional: two miracle oven gloves, one silicone knife, and two silicone spatulas.  professional-care-5-piece-silicone-accessories-set

The oven gloves protect your hands like nothing else, allowing you to quickly and easily take even the hottest pans out of the oven without getting burned.  They can withstand up to 325 degrees of heat, and you can use them in just about everything from baking to barbecuing.  You can even thrust them into boiling water without fear.

The silicone spatulas are ideal for getting baked goods out of pans.  They won’t scratch the surface of your baking dishes like metal spatulas do, and they won’t rust.  You can also use the spatulas to stir mixes, for serving dishes, or for icing cakes and other desserts.

Finally, the silicone knife makes cutting cakes and other baked goods very easy.  It also works very well to help release your baked goods from their pans.  Just run the knife around the edge and your tasty treat will pop right out.

These three items are a must-have around the kitchen, especially if you do a lot of baking.  They also make a great wedding or holiday gift for the chef who seems to have everything…except silicone accessories.

Thick and Juicy Homemade Burgers

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Homemade burgers are a great way for any one to be creative. I like to come up with many different ways that I can change a regular burger into something really delicious. It will usually start with what kind of cheese will be added to the burger.juicyburger I then think of add-ons that will compliment the kind of cheese that I have chosen. One of my favorite burgers is the Swiss, bacon, mushroom, and onion burger. It has amazing flavor to it.

This recipe has calls for about one pound of ground beef. This will make four quarter pound burgers. I will usually add two pieces of Swiss cheese to each burger. You will definitely want at least two pieces of bacon per burger. The mushrooms are sliced so you will need about five or six medium mushrooms to have enough for each burger. A large onion will be good. You will want to sauté the onion while the meat is being cooked.

Ingredient List:
One pound ground beef
8 pieces Swiss cheese
8 pieces of bacon
5 or 6 medium mushrooms
One large onion

Place the each quarter pound burger on a grill set to about 350 degrees. All grills are different so some adjusting may need to be done so that you do not burn the outside of the meat. Cook for approximately six minutes on each side. This should allow the middle of the burger to completely finish cooking. While the meat is cooking, you will want to sauté the onions and mushrooms. This will give them a sweeter flavor. When you cook the bacon, it should have a little crunch to it as well. Once the burgers are finished cooking, simply put them together and enjoy.

Spicy Cajun Chicken

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

This recipe has always been a hit when I make it for large get-togethers. The chicken is juicy and the taste is wonderful. You get a rotisserie style taste without having to cook for hours. The recipe is really simple because you really only have a couple of ingredients to prepare.

cajunchickenYou will need chicken legs with the skin left on or removed. This part is really your choice, but the skin will make the chicken juicer. A Cajun spice of any kind will work as long as it has a great flavor to it. This is where you might have to do a little taste testing in advance. It might take you several tries to find one that you like. I always use McCormick Cajun seasoning. It has just the right amount of spicy taste without being too much. The last ingredient is butter or margarine. This will also help keep your chicken juicy while it cooks.

Ingredient List:
Chicken legs with or without skin
Cajun Seasoning
Butter or Margarine

Spicing up your chicken is very simple. Pour some of the Cajun seasoning into a bowl and roll the chicken around in it. Cover the chicken completely. This will ensure that the flavor will be on all sides of the chicken. Place in a baking dish with the butter and cover with foil. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. You will want all the juices from the chicken to run clear before it is finished.

Baking Tips

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Baking can be a real challenge for many people. Some people find it really hard to bake whether it is a cake, pie, or cookies. The reason many people do not want to bake is because they do not take the proper steps beforehand. cookingbakingtipsIt is important that when you are going to bake that you follow all of the steps in the recipe for the best results.

A step that many people forget to follow is the preheating of the oven. If you do not preheat the oven before you begin baking, then the cooking time will not be right. This makes it very difficult to know when the food will be fully cooked. If you are baking a cake a simple test that you can do is use a toothpick to check the center of the cake. The toothpick must come out clean before the cake is finished. Cookies are a little easier to see if they are finished. The cookie will have fine brown line around the outer edge. Pies can be the more difficult to test because you can not just insert a toothpick or look to see if the outer edge is brown. A pie is commonly done baking when the crust is a light brown all over, not just around the edge. The filling should be bubbling as well because this means that the center should be heated through.

Following all of the steps of the recipe will greatly eliminate any errors that can make your baking experience bad. There is nothing worse than burning or overcooking your food. If you read the recipe from start to finish beforehand, then you are also less likely to forget steps or ingredients.
